Power cable with copper conductors and XLPE insulation for 0.66/1 kV
PvVG is a power cable with stranded copper conductors, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation and a PVC compound sheath, without protective covering. Compared with VVG, it carries 25–30% more current through the same cross-section thanks to the higher maximum conductor temperature (+90°C vs +70°C). Designation breakdown: Pv — cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, V — PVC sheath, G — unarmoured.
Sizes with actual technical data: outer diameter, weight and continuous current-carrying capacity in air at +25°C. Full range of cross-sections per GOST 31996-2012: 1.5 — 800 mm².

PvVG is a modern replacement for VVG in applications with a higher current load. Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation has substantially better thermal properties: a maximum continuous conductor temperature of +90°C (PVC — +70°C) and +250°C under short circuit (vs +160°C). This allows 25–30% more current to be carried through the same conductor without overheating.
Advantages vs VVG: higher current-carrying capacity for the same cross-section, longer service life (~30+ years), better overload resistance. Not intended for installation in ground without additional protection — choose PvBShv for that.
Conductors
Stranded copper, round or sector-shaped, 1–5 cores.
Insulation
Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) with colour-coded cores. Withstands continuous heating up to +90°C and short-term (short circuit) heating up to +250°C.
Stranding
The insulated cores are laid up into a cable core.
Sheath
Polyvinyl chloride compound, black. No protective covering.
