APvB Armour without sheath
Power cables 6/10/35 kV IEC: NA2XSEB

APVB

6-35 kV armoured power cable with Al conductors, without outer sheath

APvB is a medium-voltage power cable with an aluminium conductor, XLPE insulation and armour of two galvanised steel tapes. There is no outer sheath – the armour acts as the external protection. It is used for installation in tunnels and ducts with low corrosive activity, where an outer sheath is not needed. Designation breakdown: APv – XLPE, B – armour.

Voltage 6 – 35 kV
Conductor Aluminium
Protection Armour (no sheath)
Cross-section 25 – 800 mm²

Without a PVC outer sheath. The armour serves as the outer covering.

APvB cable description

APvB is a simplified armoured version for conditions where a PVC outer sheath is not required. The armour of two galvanised steel tapes provides mechanical protection and at the same time serves as the cable's outer covering. This saves materials and reduces cost.

It is used for installation in cable tunnels, ducts and utility galleries – where there is no direct contact with soil or aggressive environments. It is not recommended for installation in ground without additional protection – APvBV with an outer sheath is used for that purpose.

Applications

Installation in tunnels with low corrosive activity
Cable ducts and utility galleries with no soil contact
Conditions with mechanical loads but no contact with moisture/soil
An economical alternative to PvBV where a PVC sheath is not needed
Industrial facilities with open installation

Construction

1

Conductor

Aluminium, stranded.

2

Semi-conducting screen, XLPE, semi-conducting screen

3

Copper wire screen

4

Inner sheath (bedding)

PE compound under the armour.

5

Armour

Two galvanised steel tapes. Serves as both protection and outer covering – there is no separate sheath.
