PvP XLPE + PE
Power cables 6/10/35 kV IEC: N2XSE2Y

PVP

6-35 kV power cable with copper conductors, XLPE insulation and PE sheath

PvP is a medium-voltage power cable with a copper conductor, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation and an outer sheath of polyethylene (PE). The main difference from PvV is the PE outer sheath instead of PVC. PE offers better moisture resistance and mechanical strength and is suitable for installation in high-humidity conditions. Designation breakdown: Pv – XLPE insulation, P – PE sheath.

Voltage 6 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 35 kV
Conductor Copper
Sheath Polyethylene (PE)

PvP PRODUCT RANGE (for 6/10 kV)

Sizes for 6/10 kV. 3.6/6, 8.7/15, 12/20 and 18/30 kV versions are also produced.

PvP cable description

PvP is a version of PvV with a polyethylene outer sheath instead of PVC. The polyethylene sheath performs better in terms of moisture resistance, mechanical strength and chemical resistance, but worse in terms of fire safety (ordinary PE is a combustible material). It is used in conditions where moisture and mechanical loads matter more than fire-safety requirements: underground tunnels with standing water, installation in chemically aggressive environments, and operation in regions with high air humidity.

Versions with a reinforced polyethylene outer sheath (PvPu) are also produced – see the corresponding product pages.

Applications

6-35 kV distribution networks in high-humidity premises
Installation in ducts and tunnels at risk of water ingress
Use in locations where a PVC sheath does not provide sufficient moisture protection
Trunk interconnection lines in highly chemically aggressive atmospheres
Used in groups of 3 single-core cables
