PvPu is a modification of PvP with a reinforced (increased-thickness) polyethylene outer sheath. The letter “u” in the designation stands for “reinforced sheath”. It is used for installation in ground where additional protection against mechanical damage and moisture is required: in highly corrosive soils, on routes at risk of ground movement, and on long underground runs. Designation breakdown: Pv – XLPE insulation, Pu – reinforced polyethylene sheath.
Sizes for 6/10 kV. Also produced for other voltages.

PvPu is a version of PvP with a polyethylene outer sheath of increased thickness. The reinforced sheath improves the cable's resistance to mechanical damage during installation and operation in ground, provides better protection against moisture ingress and extends service life on difficult routes.
The insulation, screens and electrical characteristics are the same as for PvP: cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), semi-conducting conductor and insulation screens, and a copper wire screen. The only difference is the outer sheath.
