6-35 kV power cable with copper conductors and XLPE insulation
PvV is a medium-voltage power cable with a copper conductor, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, semi-conducting screens and a PVC compound sheath. It is used in 6, 10, 15, 20 and 35 kV distribution networks. It is installed as a group of three single-core cables (one per phase) in cable structures and indoor premises. Designation breakdown: Pv – XLPE insulation, V – PVC sheath.
Sizes of single-core cables rated 6/10 kV – the most common voltage in Uzbekistan's distribution networks. Actual technical specifications: outer diameter, weight, continuous current-carrying capacity in air.

PvV is a modern power cable for overhead and underground medium-voltage lines of 6, 10, 15, 20 and 35 kV. Construction: stranded copper conductor, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, semi-conducting screens to equalise the electric field, a copper wire screen to carry away leakage currents, and a PVC compound outer sheath.
Advantages of XLPE for MV cables: long service life (30+ years even under high-voltage conditions), overload resistance, lower dielectric losses vs paper insulation. It is typically used in groups of 3 single-core cables (one per phase). For three-core versions, see PvVng or PvBV.
Conductor
Stranded copper, round, compacted. Cross-section 16-800 mm².
Extruded semi-conducting conductor screen
A layer of conductive cross-linked polymer compound that equalises the electric field.
Insulation
Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). Thickness depends on voltage: 3.4 mm for 6/10 kV; 4.5 mm for 15 kV; 5.5 mm for 20 kV; 8.0 mm for 35 kV.
Extruded semi-conducting insulation screen
Similar to the conductor screen, equalises the field.
Conductive tape
Over the semi-conducting screen.
Copper wire screen
Copper wires over the conductive tape, with a helically wound copper tape on top. Screen cross-section 16 mm² (for 16-185 mm² conductors) or 25-35 mm² (for larger cross-sections).
Inner sheath (bedding)
An extruded layer of polymer compound.
Outer sheath
PVC compound, black.
