Class 1 bright copper wire rod ⌀8 mm made from M00k cathodes
KMO class 1 copper wire rod is the raw material for copper wire production. It is made in an UPCAST melting furnace from M00k copper cathodes of the highest purity grade (99.99% Cu). TCG uses it for its own production of cable and wire products and supplies it to other cable plants in Uzbekistan, Central Asia and the CIS. Designation breakdown: KMO – bright copper wire rod, class 1 – highest quality category, M00k – cathode grade by purity, 8.0 – nominal diameter in mm.
Chemical composition and mechanical properties of KMO wire rod – per O'z DSt 2809:2013. Marking, packaging, transport and storage – per GOST 18690.

KMO class 1 is high-purity copper wire rod produced by TCG in an UPCAST melting furnace. Wire rod is the basic raw material for the production of electrical copper wire: by drawing, it is turned into wire of various diameters from 0.15 to 7 mm, which is then used to make cable conductors.
UPCAST (Outotec) technology:
Manufacturer's guarantee: TCG guarantees that the wire rod complies with the requirements of the standard provided the consumer observes the transport, storage and processing rules. The guaranteed shelf life is 3 months from the date of manufacture. Once the guaranteed shelf life has expired, the wire rod must be checked for compliance with O'z DSt 2809:2013 before use.
Melting
M00k copper cathodes are charged into the UPCAST melting furnace and melted in an inert atmosphere to preserve the purity of the metal and prevent oxidation.
Casting
The UPCAST casting machine is a multi-strand system with separate coolers for each strand. A servo-driven withdrawal unit pulls the cast product through the coolers.
Coiling
The wire rod is fed to the coilers to form coils.
Surface brightening
KMO wire rod is bright, i.e. it has a cleaned, shiny surface to prevent contamination during subsequent processing.
