SIPN-4

Flame-retardant self-supporting wire without a messenger element

SIPn-4 is a version of SIP-4 with flame-retardant insulation. All cores are current-carrying, of aluminium alloy, without a separate messenger element; the insulation is flame-retardant UV-stabilised cross-linked polyethylene. It is used for branch lines from overhead lines to building service entrances and for installation along building walls where enhanced fire safety requirements apply.

Description of SIPn-4 wire

SIPn-4 is a modification of SIP-4 with flame-retardant insulation. The index “n” in the designation per GOST 31946-2012 (Amendment No. 1) means that the UV-stabilised cross-linked polyethylene of the insulation is made of a flame-retardant compound. The conductors, cross-sections and mechanical characteristics are the same as for SIP-4: the maximum conductor temperature is +90°C in normal operation and +250°C under short circuit.

Without a separate messenger element, like SIP-4. It is used for branch lines from overhead lines and for installation along building walls. Flame retardancy is particularly important at service entrances and on facades, where the wire runs close to building structures.

The wire is intended for the same lines as SIP-4, but with enhanced fire safety requirements.

Applications

Branch lines from overhead lines to building service entrances
Installation along building walls and facades
Power supply to residential and public buildings with enhanced fire safety requirements
Replacement of SIP-4 where flame retardancy is required
Facilities with high occupancy

Construction

1

Conductors

Stranded, compacted, of aluminium alloy.

2

Insulation

Flame-retardant UV-stabilised cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). UV-resistant.

3

Stranding

The cores are stranded together. There is no messenger element.
