The first large cogeneration centre in the city of Tashkent. The facility is located on the site of the 4th district heating plant in Yunusabad District and covers around 3.5 hectares. The project was implemented under a public-private partnership arrangement together with the Chinese corporation CNTIC (China National Technical Import & Export Corporation), with foreign direct investment of 65 million US dollars.
The electrical capacity of the plant is 100 MW. It is based on natural gas-fired reciprocating gas engine cogeneration with Rolls-Royce / MTU equipment and a heat recovery system. The plant generates 876 million kWh of electricity and 858 thousand Gcal of heat per year; natural gas savings amount to around 35 million m³ per year.
