Heat-resistant aluminium conductor steel-reinforced for the medium temperature range
AT1S / AT1SP are heat-resistant aluminium conductors steel-reinforced (ACSR) for overhead lines with a moderate increase in current-carrying capacity. The outer layers are made of type 1 heat-resistant aluminium-zirconium alloy (Al-Zr), which withstands continuous heating up to +150°C (vs +70°C for AS) and up to +180°C in emergency mode. This gives +15-25% continuous current-carrying capacity with the same geometry. The optimum choice when AS is no longer sufficient but the excess heat resistance of AT3S (+210°C) is not required. Designation breakdown: AT1S – type 1 heat-resistant aluminium with a steel core, AT1SP – the same with trapezoidal (shaped) wires.
Comparison of AT1S and AT1SP with AS of equivalent cross-section. The type 1 AT series gives a moderate increase in current-carrying capacity thanks to its higher temperature resistance.

AT1S and AT1SP are heat-resistant aluminium conductors steel-reinforced for overhead lines, allowing the current-carrying capacity of an overhead line to be moderately increased without changing the line design. They use type 1 aluminium-zirconium alloy in the outer layers instead of ordinary A5E aluminium.
AT1S vs AT3S – choosing the right level:
When to choose AT1S: when a moderate increase in the current-carrying capacity of an existing overhead line is needed (for example, due to load growth in the area), the air temperature is not extremely high, and the cost of reconstruction needs to be optimised.
AT1SP is a version with trapezoidal (shaped) wires, which reduces the outer diameter and, accordingly, the wind load and sag.
Steel core
Made of galvanised steel wires. Carries the mechanical load.
Outer layers
Made of type 1 heat-resistant aluminium-zirconium alloy (Al-Zr). Withstand continuous heating up to +150°C, and up to +180°C in emergency mode. AT1SP has trapezoidal (shaped) wires to reduce the diameter.
