Description of the M conductor

M is a bare copper conductor for applications with increased requirements for electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. It is manufactured from M1 or M00 grade electrical copper. TCG's production uses its own KMO wire rod, made from M00k copper cathodes using UPCAST technology.

It is used for busbar connections, overhead contact lines of electric transport (trams, trolleybuses), earthing systems and jumpers in switchgear. On overhead lines it is used where high electrical conductivity (minimum losses) is required and the mechanical load is low. Copper has approximately 1.7 times lower resistivity than aluminium, which is critical for short high-current connections.

Applications

Busbar connections in switchgear
Overhead contact lines of electric transport (trams, trolleybuses)
Earthing systems and lightning conductors
Trunk overhead lines with increased current loads
Assemblies and jumpers between outdoor switchgear and transformers

Construction

1

Copper wires

Made of M1 or M00 grade electrical copper per GOST. Solid for cross-sections up to 10 mm², stranded with 7-37 wires for larger cross-sections.

2

Stranding

Concentric layers laid in opposite directions.
