VPV

Installation wire for submersible motors with PVC sheath

VPV is a version of VPP with an outer sheath of PVC instead of polyethylene. It is used in the same conditions (submersible pumps), but where higher resistance to oils and petroleum products than PE can offer is required. Designation breakdown: V – submersible, P – PE insulation, V – PVC sheath.

Application Submersible pumps, oil
Conductor Copper
Sheath PVC (oil- and petroleum-resistant)
Cross-section 1.5 – 70 mm²

VPV wire description

VPV is a specialised wire for submersible equipment operating in media containing petroleum products, oils and chemical agents. It differs from VPP only in the material of the outer sheath: instead of polyethylene, a PVC compound with enhanced oil resistance is used.

The main applications are submersible oil pumps, oil production equipment and installations in contaminated industrial effluent. VPV is chosen when ordinary VPP is unsuitable because of the risk of the PE sheath swelling or breaking down on prolonged contact with oil. The PE electrical insulation is retained – it provides the waterproofing.

Applications

Submersible oil pumps in contact with crude oil and oils
Borehole pumps where petroleum products are present
Submersible equipment in industrial effluent
Systems with increased chemical exposure
An alternative to VPP for harsh media
